Because this dries opaque it can be used for example, to paint over a colourful notebook cover.  It will then give you a clean white base to paint or draw your own design - you might like then then use acrylic paint or Posca paint markers (available from us).
 
For use in journaling situations, paint the Gesso thinly onto your journal page - using a wide brush or a sponge brush.  When dry this will give your page more resistance to bleed-through of alcohol markers etc.
