This whittling kit contains one Opinel No 7 round-ended knife PLUS at least six pieces of wood for you to start whittling straight away.


We've included some soft cedar wood, and random other pieces of wood of different weights and hardness.


Information on the knife:


The Opinel No 7 Children’s Knife features the Virobloc Safety Ring and a Round Tip Blade for added Safety. 

This little knife has a blunt  7.5 cm edge manufactured out of Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel which was developed especially for Opinel and guarantees an impeccable cutting edge and extreme resistance to corrosion  thanks to the addition of chrome and requires no special maintenance. Its carbon content of at least 0.40% gives excellent cutting edge.

The knife is very durable and measures only 10 cm closed. This Opinel knife comes with a Beechwood handle and a Stainless Steel Blade with Opinel’s crowned hand hallmark etching. 

My first Opinel knife, ideal for small DIY jobs, picnics, buttering bread, camping and model-making.

Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives from the N° 06. Cut out of stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).

When the knife blade requires sharpening please attend to that immediately as using a dull blade can result in accidents.  You may find a local tool shop that can sharpen knives, a local Mr Minite, or use a knife sharpening stone yourself.  Please do not use the type of sharpener that is designed for kitchen knives.
